The Indy After School Corps, an AmeriCorps program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis, provides services and programs to better the lives of youth in Marion County. Services include tutoring, after school enrichment activities, summer day camps, conflict resolution skills, violence prevention skills, health education, and organized recreation to meet the needs of low-income, vulnerable youth and their families in Indianapolis.
Member Benefits
- A modest living allowance is provided to help assist with living expenses during the term of service. Bi-weekly stipends range from $169-$635 (less taxes are taken out).
- Earn Money for College! Receive an Educational Award between $1,212 and $5,815 after completing your term of service.
- Gain valuable experience in youth development, working as part of a team, leading a group, and build your resume.
- Additional benefits include: up to 340 hours of professional development, health care, child care (full-time only), noncompetitive eligibility for federal jobs (VISTA only), and potential employment opportunities.
Eligibility
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
Service Activities
- Increase academic success and engagement of youth.
- Provide direct programs to children and youth, ages 5-18 years, after school.
- Implement daily activities including: tutoring, conflict resolution, health and safety, enrichment, recreation, clubs, etc.
- Recruit and support additional volunteers at sites to build organizational capacity.
- Provide direct support to other volunteer-based organizations.
- Attend AmeriCorps sponsored trainings, staff meetings and events.
- Ensure the spread of AmeriCorps vision and visibility by wearing AmeriCorps gear during all service activities.
