Learning Center Coordinator

Under the direction of the Education Director, the Learning Center Coordinator will help lead daily homework help sessions (Power Hour) as well as fun, educational, structured and age-appropriate activities for children ages 5-18.

Essential Functions:

  • Carry out effective and appropriate incentive programs to encourage children to participate in Power Hour.
  • Supervise groups of children during Power Hour.
  • Maintain accurate records of members’ academic progress as instructed.
  • Plan and implement learning center activities for children ages 5-18 that are:
    • Safe
    • Fun
    • Educational
    • Structured
    • Age appropriate
  • Provide positive guidance and discipline for youth in assigned program areas.
  • Clean learning center area daily.
  • Accurately track participation of members in programs as well as program outcomes.
  • Enthusiastically complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education degree or related college coursework.

Significant experience working with children ages 5-18.

Ability to serve as a role model for Club members.

Physical Demands:

Standing/walking for long periods of time while supervising children.

Reaching, lifting, balancing, etc while cleaning program areas.

Extensive physical movement while supervising or participating in activities with children.

Hours:
Monday – Friday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Computer Lab Coordinator

Under the direction of the Unit Director and Program Director, the Computer Lab Coordinator will plan and lead fun, educational, structured and age-appropriate computer activities in a computer lab setting for children ages 5-18.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and supervise computer lab activities for children ages 5-18 that are:
    • Safe
    • Fun
    • Educational
    • Structured
    • Age appropriate
  • Provide positive guidance and discipline for youth in assigned program areas.
  • Oversee computer lab supplies and equipment (request additional supplies when needed, request equipment maintenance when needed).
  • Clean computer lab area daily.
  • Accurately track participation of members in programs as well as program outcomes.
  • Enthusiastically complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education degree or significant experience working with children ages 5-18.

Working knowledge of basic computer concepts, Microsoft Office products and digital/video/audio production.

Degree or significant experience working with children in a computer lab setting.

Ability to serve as a role model for Club members.

Teen Room Coordinator

Under the direction of the Unit Director and Program Director, the Teen Room Coordinator will plan and lead daily homework help sessions (Power Hour) as well as fun, educational, structured and age-appropriate activities for teens ages 13-18.  The Teen Room Coordinator will ensure that all activities undertaken in the teen room are appropriate.

Essential Functions:

Plan and carry out effective and appropriate incentive programs to encourage teens to participate in Power Hour.

Supervise groups of teens during Power Hour.

Supervise individual and/or groups of volunteer tutors during Power Hour.  Ensure that volunteers are appropriately assigned to teens who need tutoring help.  Ensure that volunteers are kept busy and productive and follow applicable BGCI volunteer practices and procedures.

Provide positive guidance and discipline for youth in assigned program areas.

Plan and supervise teen activities for teens ages 13-18 that are:

  • Educational
  • Structured
  • Age appropriate

Oversee teen room supplies and equipment (request additional supplies when needed, request equipment maintenance when needed).
