Position title: Program Director  


Under the direct supervision of the club, the Program Director plans, organizes, and directs recreational, sports, educational and social programs at the Boys & Girls Club.  Program Director is concerned with the overall programs and activities at the Club.  Program hours are Monday-Thursday 2:00pm. – 9pm, and Friday 2:00pm-7pm. Position is full-time with benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct activities for club (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal activities).
  • Plan, create, and implement programs and activities that meet the needs of the members and the goals of the Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis.
  • Assist in directing and operating the organization in accordance with the standards, philosophies, and policies of the Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis
  • Ability to write grants to supplement the funding for the Boys & Girls Club core program service areas.
  • Promote, publicize, and market the organization programs, activities, purpose, and values to members, parents, Board of Directors, and the community.
  • Assist in promoting and stimulating membership, attendance, and participation for the organization.
  • Evaluate program materials/documents and submit written reports as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records on all departmental activities and attendance as required.
  • Maintain order and discipline of members in the program areas
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in the supervision of, and responsible for, the maintenance and operation of the physical plant, and equipment.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Club Director in the case of his/her absence.
  • Perform other assignments as requested.


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited college or university in a field related to guidance, recreation, education, and/or social science.
  • Education and experience in the fields of counseling and guidance, personnel management, business administration, program development, marketing and public relations are preferred.
  • Must have the personality and ability to relate to members, parents, staff, laymen, businessmen, and the general public.
  • Ability to supervise the operation and maintenance of the club facility.
  • Knowledge of computers and use of a variety of computer software.
